10th Gospel Music Celebration and Scholarship Awards

JANS – The Canton Gospel Music Association will present the 10th Annual Gospel Music Celebration & Scholarship Awards, Sunday, Aug. 25 at 5:00 p.m. at the Greater Faith Calvary Pentecostal Church, 305 Railroad Street, Canton, MS. The purpose of this music celebration each year is to recognize individuals who have made significant musical contributions in Madison County.

Lifetime Achievement Awards will be presented to Mrs. Erma Cole & Mr. Billy Joe Wells. Mayor Arnel Bolden will present Mrs. Bertha Archie with the Mayor’s Award. It is fitting thatCanton, with its rich heritage, deep spiritual roots and strong church affiliations host an event to honor these individuals.

The highlight of this music celebration is the awarding of 11 music scholarships to pay for music lessons for up and coming musicians. To date, they have awarded $13,900.00 in scholarships to more than 64 students.

The featured special guest soloist is Lady Tramaine Hawkins, a multiple Grammy & Stellar Award winner from Oakland, CA. The is Stellar Award winner and Motown Gospel artist Paul Porter. Tickets: advance ($15); at the door ($20); children 6-12 ($10); children 5 years and under ($5).
