We would like to thank you all for your contributions to the Lavaree Jones Heart Care Fund!! Your prayers, well wishes, and concern for my mother have really warmed her heart and lightened her load of worry. She has been doing well physically and is working on getting strong to sustain her forthcoming surgery. The doctors have her well paced on medication and are constantly monitoring her health. The first available appointment with the doctor in Houston is the last week in June.

Our goal is to raise $200,000 for the surgery and doctor’s fees. Your generosity has amassed to a total of over $25,000!!! We are still working towards our goal so, if you or anyone you know would like to contribute, please make checks payable to Aurelia Jones-Taylor and in the memo section write: Lavaree Jones Heart Care Fund. Contributions can be mailed to 243 Valley North Blvd, Jackson, MS 39206. If you have any questions or concerns please call me at 601-672-2264.

We would like to take the time to voice our gratitude to a few key people and organizations.

Thank you to Jackie Amos-Norris and W. Ann Bridges for spearheading the idea to raise funds to cover medical expenses.

A special thank you goes to Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (MS) and Congressman AL Green (TX) for negotiating with St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital. Thank you to Senator John Horhn, Senator Robert Jackson, and Senator Willie Simmons for tirelessly trying to work out a solution on a state level.

Thank you to CJean Bennett and Al Wright for organizing the radio-thon and media coverage and, to Women for Progress for dedicating their entire show to this effort.

Thank you to The Jackson Advocate and WJTV-12 for their full and continuous coverage of our story. In addition, a special thank you goes to WMPR 90.1 FM, The Mississippi Link, and The Clarion Ledger for helping spread the word of our endeavor.

An extra special Thank You goes to each and every individual who contributed to our cause, big and small!!!

God Bless You All!

Funmilayo B. Tilden (Lavaree’s daughter)
