JANS – The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) Board of Commissioners (Warren T. Herring, Sharon F. Bridges, Esq., Rickey D. Jones, and Rica Lewis-Payton) hosted a reception for its incoming CEO, Rosa M. Beckett, the first female to hold the position at JMAA. The event was held June 15th at The Faulkner in downtown Jackson.

Extending her a warm welcome were city leaders that included business executives, government officials, community activists, and other stakeholders from across the tri-county area.

In his remarks, Jackson Mayor Chokwe A. Lumumba told the standing room only crowd that Beckett’s appointment marks a significant milestone in the history of JMAA, setting a positive tone for continued progress and innovation for Jackson residents.

Demonstrating her commitment and quick wit in one fell swoop, Beckett expressed her excitement to work, live, and play in Jackson, adding she will gladly don a Jackson State University jersey anytime the Tigers are not playing FAMU, where she also has ties. Guests’ laughter seemed to suggest she wouldn’t be penalized for it.

She also emphasized the importance of providing exceptional service to travelers, maintaining a strong focus on safety and security, and enhancing the airports’ significant economic impact on the region.

The welcome reception also included the traditional unveiling of the official CEO portrait.
