Congrats, star student

Completing middle school is a feat within itself. However, finishing fourth in the top ten of your graduating class is exceptional. That honors belongs solely to Mia Charde’ Evans at Thomas W. Cardoza Middle School, the first graduating class of the new school in the Jackson Public School system in Jackson, MS. Dr. Josephine Kelly serves as principal of the distinguished school named for Mississippi’s superintendent of education during the Reconstruction era. While at Cardoza, Mia served as a Student Council representative and was a participant in the state science fair. During the May 24th commencement exercises, Mia kept in step with the graduation theme — “Reach for the Stars … The Sky is the Limit!” by receiving the Presidential Scholar trophy, recognition in the National Junior Honor Society, Band, All City Band, Basketball and Team Player honors, as well as other trophies and certificates. Mia is the daughter of Ravis Johnson Davis and granddaughter of Rosia Mary Barnes Johnson of Jackson, MS.
