Ward 3 Councilwoman LaRita Cooper-Stokes is going on record of taking her constituents’ concerns to her colleagues at city hall. She has structured her first ordinance and order since taking office last month. The ordinance is amending Jackson Code of Ordinances, Section 2-62(b): Regular Meetings, to allow for regular city council meetings every week. The order is ending the practice of collecting the nonpayment or delinquency penalty fee in the sum of fifty dollars for residential customers of Jackson city waterworks. Both issues were discussed at the Ward 3 February meeting at the Medgar Evers Public Library.
The Ward 3 March meeting will be held on Saturday, March 31 at 3 p.m. at the Charles W. Tisdale Public Library, 807 E. Northside Drive. To reach Cooper-Stokes, call 601-960-1090.
