Detroit ASU Alumni Chapter building brighter futures

JANS – Since its inception in 1947, the Detroit Alumni Chapter has been very active in supporting Alcorn State through its generous contributions and active participation in the National Alumni Association. Beginning in the year 2000, the Detroit Alumni Chapter has sponsored 31 $250 book allowance scholarships to assist students from the state of Michigan.The Alcorn State University Alumni Chapter of Detroit is now entering its seventh decade of service to Alcorn State University and the community at large.  Throughout the years, the chapter has been very active in promoting Alcorn State University and serving the Metro Detroit area through its fundraising activities and supporting community organizations such as the NAACP and the Detroit Alumni HBCU Network.  As the years have gone by, the Alcorn Detroit Alumni Chapter has continued to grow and the membership has increased to include original alumni members, graduates from the 1950s -1990s and recent graduates.  The Detroit Alumni Chapter has been recognized nationally for its fundraising efforts and many individuals have been recognized by the ASU National Alumni Association for their dedication and service to Alcorn State University.  The Detroit Alumni Chapter will continue to thrive because of the spirit of its founding members and continual excellence of its current membership.For more information about the Detroit Alumni Chapter,  contact Anthony Neal, President, at 313-378-4629 or neala@gdrra.org.
