Holiday Air Travel Advisory

The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) is expecting high numbers of travelers to use the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) during this year’s Christmas and New Year’s holiday season. Our airline partners project an estimated 1,500 – 2,000 passengers will travel through JAN per day during December 20th through January 2nd.

Allow yourself extra time, come early and be patient. Expect limited parking, longer lines at check in and at security checkpoints. Our three parking facilities will fill quickly. Look for signs to direct you to lots that have spaces available. If you use our Surface Parking lot a free ride is available on the “Jingle Bell Express” to and from the main terminal at JAN.

Know Before You Go – don’t over pack luggage, and do not gift wrap packages as TSA staff may have to open bags and boxes for further examination. Check your luggage and carry-on bags for any prohibited items. Check our website at www.iflyjackson.com for flight schedule information; quick links to book a flight and check individual flight status updates. Find information about our restaurants and gift shops. For ground transportation options follow the Cell Phone Lot Link for information on disabled passenger shuttle services and parking options.

Just remember to check your luggage and carry-on bags for any prohibited items. You may bring small amounts of liquids in your carry-on bags, and remember “The 3 –1–1 Rule” for carry-on bags: 3 – ounce or less bottles; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zipper top bag; 1 – bag per passenger placed in screening bin. Laptops, cameras, jewelry and other expensive or fragile items should never be checked in luggage. For more tips on TSA security rules and procedures visit their website at www.TSA.gov.
